Amicapsil-SCI treatment of acute grade 3 in spinal cord injury

At the time of starting treatment with Amicapsil-SCI, the pressure ulcer had been observed approximately two weeks earlier. The treatment use prior to Amicapsil-SCI was irrigation with saline, disinfection with Vashe, Medihoney in the wound bed, and covered with a Medipore dressing. Signs of a minor infection was present with the person running a temperature of 99-101F (37.2-38.3C) the past few days. The sore at start measured 1.5 cm x 2.5 cm.
Spinal cord injury interferes with the immune response and in addition a medication known to affect cell proliferation was taken. The interference of this medication with healing could be seen.

The infection in the wound included Serratia marcescens, an anaerobic multi-resistant bacterium, which produces a red toxin that inhibits the immune cells. The toxin can be seen as the red colour on the dressing Day 18
